Several injury concerns for Connacht
The Connacht management will be keeping an eye on the progress of several key players struggling with injuries ahead of Friday’s RaboDirect PRO12 meeting with Ulster in Ravenhill (7.05pm).
The western province celebrated a comprehensive 34-6 victory over European champions Leinster last weekend but the win came at a price with three players joining a long injury list.
Man of the Match Michael Swift, stand-in captain Nathan White and try scorer Ronan Loughney are all suffering from knocks after Friday’s game.
Frank Murphy’s knee injury looks set to keep him out of contention for six to eight weeks with young lock Dave Nolan also out for the long term with a leg injury.
Captain Gavin Duffy is one of several players being monitored by the Connacht medical staff along with Andrew Browne, Matt Healy, Matthew Jarvis, Eoin McKeon, Brian Murphy, Paul O'Donohoe, Danie Poolman and Kyle Tonetti.
Head Coach, Eric Elwood, was delighted with the remarkable win over Leinster but knows there is a lot of work to do ahead of this week’s clash against Ulster.
“We’re very proud of the way we played on Friday but the big test now is to ensure we can play like that against Ulster this week and on a regular basis throughout the season,” he said.
