Huget withdraws from France squad - report

Winger Yoann Huget has withdrawn from the France squad for the World Cup because of a breach of anti-doping rules, according to reports.

French Rugby Federation (FFR) president Pierre Camou announced at a press conference the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) had informed him Huget had failed to reveal his whereabouts for tests on three occasions, L’Equipe reported.

The 24-year-old Bayonne player has voluntarily withdrawn from the squad to avoid causing

disruption.

“There are difficult moments in the career of a president of the federation,” Camou was quoted by L’Equipe as telling a news conference.

“This one is one. I received a statement of the alleged violation from the AFLD with three warnings for breach of location.

“Yoann Huget took a courageous stand. He himself decided to withdraw from the group.”

Camou added: “It is a problem with regard to the regulations, nothing to do with a banned substance.”

Huget explained the three warnings, saying: “Once I completed the wrong location on my form. The second time I was with the France team before the game against Wales and the third I had a photo shoot at the last minute.”

Coach Marc Lievremont will not call up a replacement.
