Carter back on top of points table

New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter has regained the world record for the highest points scorer in Tests after scoring in the Tri Nations clash with South Africa.

The 29-year-old needed just two points to surpass the total of 1,195 held by Jonny Wilkinson.

He achieved the feat by slotting a penalty three minutes into the contest with the Springboks in Wellington.

By full-time, he had scored 10 points to climb to 1,204 on the way to a 40-7 win.

Carter also broke Wilkinson's previous world record of 1,178 in November 2010, but the England international took the record back three months later.
