Anthony Foley will take over as Munster Forwards Coach at the beginning of next season.

He will take over from current forwards coach Laurie Fisher who will vacate the position.

The former Munster number eight, who captained the province to their first Heineken Cup victory in 2005, has previously served as technical advisor and assistant coach (Defence) since retiring at the end of the 2007/2008 season.

Earlier this season, Foley, capped 201 times by Munster, was appointed forwards coach to the Ireland Wolfhounds.

Announcing the new appointment Munster Chief Executive Garrett Fitzgerald said: "Laurie's experience has been hugely beneficial to Munster's squad and management.

“It's now time for Anthony to take on this responsibility and to impart his experience and great knowledge of the game to the Munster players. We wish him well in his new role that commences on July 1.”
