Defeat keeps UCC towards the bottom of the table

Bruff had to dig deep before for this Division 1B win over UCC at Kilballyowen Park. It was a 48th minute try from full-back Brendan Deady that made all the difference.

The Limerick side, who lost their last two league games, led early on courtesy of a ninth minute penalty from centre Brian Cahill.

UCC prop Gavin Duffy was sent to the sin-bin, midway through the first half, but Bruff were unable to capitalise and the score remained 3-0.

A great bit of interplay by Deady and scrum half Eoghan Meaher paved the way for the former’s try. Cahill again converted to gain four precious league points for the Munster Senior Cup holders.

Bruff, who beat UCC 15-13 at the Mardyke in October, are now level on 20 points with third-placed Lansdowne. UCC remain second-from-bottom following their sixth defeat of the campaign.
