Leinster and Ireland lock Malcolm O’Kelly has announced his retirement from professional rugby.

Leinster and Ireland lock Malcolm O’Kelly has announced his retirement from professional rugby.

O’Kelly, 35, made his Leinster debut in 1995 against Northern Transvaal at Donnybrook to become their most capped player on 186 appearances.

He succeeded Mike Gibson as Ireland’s most capped player in his 70th game for his country in 2005 and won 92 caps for his country in his last appearance as a replacement against Italy in the Six Nations last year.
