Barnes to miss Australia’s European tour
Australian vice-captain Berrick Barnes has been ruled out of his country's upcoming tour of Europe.
The 23-year-old injured his ankle in training yesterday and is likely to require surgery.
He could be out of action for several months as a result.
Under-20 fly-half Matt Toomua has been formally drafted into the squad in his place after initially being called up as cover for next week's tour game against English side Gloucester.
The Wallabies will play Italy, England, France and Wales over the coming weeks before ending the tour against the Barbarians on December 3.
