Leinster appoint Corrigan as scrum coach
Legendary Ireland prop Reggie Corrigan has been appointed Leinster’s provincial scrum coach.
The former Leinster captain, who made 139 appearances for the province during a glittering career, is overjoyed at being presented with the opportunity to work with some of the country's top young players.
"I'm absolutely delighted to be back involved with Leinster at what is an extremely exciting period for the province at all levels," he enthused.
"There is an excellent batch of young forwards coming through the various underage levels and I see this role as a crucial means of developing the scrum across the province.
"My remit will be working with the Under-20's and the Academy and the various age grade groups in clubs and schools across the province.
"I hope this will lead to an improvement in the standard of scrummaging as well as enhancing the technical development of young props and, as a result, lead to a greater standard of safety for the players."
Leinster domestic rugby manager Philip Lawlor believes that Corrigan’s vast experience of Heineken Cup and Test level rugby will prove hugely beneficial to the development of the province's most promising front rows.
"Leinster Rugby are committed to developing specialised coaches and as a quality exponent of front row play with both Leinster and Ireland, Reggie will make a positive contribution to the existing underage coaching structures within the province," he said.
"We are delighted with Reggie's appointment and we believe that he will be a valuable resource for clubs and schools as well as in up-skilling coaches in the art of scrummaging across the province."
