Humphreys set for Ulster farewell

Coach Matt Williams has paved the way for David Humphreys to make a glorious exit from rugby by naming him in the Ulster squad to play Cardiff Blues at Ravenhill on Friday.

Humphreys, recently voted Ulster's all-time favourite player, is joined by scrum half Paul Marshall, Stephen Ferris and David Pollock as the four changes to the squad.

Williams said: "David is an iconic figure in Ulster and Irish rugby, I hope he gets out on Friday night and hope the people of Ulster turn up to say thank-you for a remarkable career."

In terms of the match, Williams was adamant about the challenge: "Cardiff are the power house of Welsh rugby, European Cup quarter finalists and fighting for second place in the Mangers’ they will be a hand full.

"A win this Friday would be a great send off for our players who are going to pastures new next season and would put the team on a real positive footing for next season."
