New-look France hold comfortable lead at break

France had a comfortable lead at half-time in their opening RBS 6 Nations Championship game of 2008 against Scotland at Murrayfield.

Vincent Clerc combined beautifully on two occasions with Cedric Haymans before touching down in the 12th minute and just after the midway point in the first half Julien Malzieu scored his first international try on debut.

Dan Parks endured a poor opening 40 minutes including one inexplicable penalty miss – but his six points with the boot at least kept Scotland in the game.
