Casey cited for stamping
Ireland international lock and London Irish captain Bob Casey has been cited for an alleged stamp on lock Cornelius van Zyl in the Round 6 Heineken Cup Pool 1 match against Benetton Treviso last Saturday.
The citing lodged by the Citing Commissioner for the match, Russell Howell (Wales), is for alleged stamping / trampling on a Benetton Treviso player in contravention of Law 10.4 (b).
The independent Disciplinary Committee will be appointed as soon as practicable.
Leicester and England prop Julian White and two other London Irish forwards have been cited for alleged foul play in Saturday’s Heineken Cup action.
The 34-year-old Tigers tighthead – who was not included in Brian Ashton’s RBS Six Nations squad after pulling out of last autumn’s World Cup – has been charged with punching or striking Leinster’s Ireland lock Malcolm O’Kelly in the Guinness Premiership side’s 25-9 win at Welford Road.
White must now face an independent disciplinary commission on an as yet unspecified date, along with the Exiles tduo – replacement prop Dan Murphy and flanker Declan Danaher.
Murphy is accused of tripping Treviso prop Salvatore Costanzo in the sides’ match at Stadio Comunale di Monigo, which the Exiles won 24-11, while Danaher, along with Casey, has been charged with stamping – on lock Cornelius van Zyl.
