SRU rules out mediation to solve Edinburgh row

The Scottish Rugby Union have ruled out mediation as a means to end their dispute with Edinburgh.

The development could bring court action closer, and comes after the relationship between the two parties looked to be improving.

Edinburgh owner Bob Carruthers contends that his club are owed a large six-figure sum by the SRU in overdue Heineken Cup and Magners League payments, however their claim has been denied by the national body.

In a statement, the SRU said tonight: “Following the continued and extensive leaks to the media of confidential information and documentation in regard to the relationship between Scottish Rugby and Edinburgh Rugby Limited, Scottish Rugby has concluded today that mediation is no longer an option.”
