Bourgoin 13 Leicester 28

Leicester’s Heineken Cup Pool Four victory at Bourgoin tonight kept them in the running for a quarter-final place tonight.

England captain Martin Corry proved his well-being following his central role In the autumn internationals debacle by providing one of the Tigers’ three first-half tries.

Corry was yellow-carded after the break, one of three dished out to the visitors. But Leicester had a 28-3 lead to protect by then, thanks to tries from full-back Geordan Murphy and winger Tom Varndell to go with back-row forward Corry’s score.

The Tigers, who have gone above Munster in the table after tonight’s result, never seemed likely to let their advantage slip despite a Bourgoin fightback of sorts.

The French came back with tries in the second half from hooker Benoit Cabello and wing Jean-Francois Coux.

For Leicester, Andy Goode converted two of the first-half tries and weighed in with three penalties.
