Sivivatu 'gets dirty' on return for All Blacks
New Zealand winger Sitiveni Sivivatu believes he is “injury free” and ready to help the All Blacks maintain their place as the best team in rugby after a storming performance at the Stade Gerland.
The Fijian-born Waikato and Chiefs back took his try haul to 11 in 10 internationals after a brace in the 47-3 thrashing of France in Lyon.
Sivivatu, who endured an injury-affected 2006 season and missed some of the Chiefs’ Super 14 campaign and Waikato’s Cup-winning provincial campaign, told The Press: “I’ve been having injury problems for the last 12 months or so and couldn’t get over it.
“It took me a while. Now it’s all gone and I’m pretty much injury-free.
“You don’t have to hang around on the wing all the time, you’ve got to get in there and get dirty like the others.”
The softly-spoken Sivivatu was modest after leading a indomitable backline performance.
“There’s 30 of us, each and everyone wants to get out there and get a black jersey and get a feel for it,” he added. “You’re playing for the other guys, not only yourself.”
