White has no case for the defence
South Africa coach Jake White blasted his side's defence and believed Ireland's superb use of the wind was decisive in today's 32-15 defeat at Lansdowne Road.
Andrew Trimble, David Wallace, Marcus Horan and Shane Horgan crossed as rampant Ireland registered only their third victory over the outclassed Springboks.
White said: "The backs, especially the outside backs started very well. What worried me was we were dominated in the tight five.
"But we should give a lot of credit to the Irish team. Marcus Horan's try just before half-time put them too far ahead.
"Peter Stringer and Ronan O'Gara kicked to the right hand corner and it was difficult to get out. We just couldn't get out of the corner in the first half.
"We missed some first up tackles. Pierre Spies made some try-saving tackles and it was a blessing he was there.
"I'm still confident that our defensive system works. I've no doubt it works when it's executed properly.
"One of my frustrations as a coach is no domestic team in South Africa uses it."
South Africa skipper John Smit offered no excuses for the defeat.
He said: "We underperformed. The Irish played much better against the wind than we did. We're very disappointed.
"The defensive basics we worked on in training weren't there today."
