O’Driscoll reveals reasons for committing future to Leinster

Brian O'Driscoll has spoken for the first time about why he's staying with Leinster.

The Irish captain committed to the Blues until 2011 midweek, signing a four-year extension to his current deal with the IRFU.

O'Driscoll says Leinster coach Michael Chieka has proven to be an inspiration - but admits he very nearly walked away:

“I was pretty close when there was some talk about it last year.

“I was unsure about the Leinster situation and I guess when Michael (Cheika) and David (Knox) came in I had to give them an opportunity and I've really enjoyed them as coaches.

“It was all about the Leinster set-up, how the union treated you and the amount of games you play so with all that put together it made sense for me to stay here.

“I feel Leinster have the capabilities to win something in the next few years.”
