Ireland have called up uncapped Wasps prop Peter Bracken for their summer tour to New Zealand and Australia following Simon Best’s withdrawal through injury.

Best broke his leg during Ulster’s 12-12 draw with Llanelli on Friday and requires surgery, potentially ruling him out of action for up to six months.

Bracken, who joined Wasps from Connacht last summer, has been given the nod and will be hoping to add to his Ireland A and Under-21 honours.

The 28-year-old joins Isaac Boss and Bryan Young as the only uncapped members of the 30-strong touring party.

Ireland leave for New Zealand on Friday, June 2 and face two Tests against the All Blacks before completing their trip with a clash with Australia on Saturday June 24.
