Paddy Wallace ruined his Ulster team-mate Tyrone Howe’s final outing for Dungannon as he kicked 19 points at Eaton Park.

The 35-year-old Howe is retiring at the end of the season, and whilst he bagged two tries for his send-off, Wallace outdid him with a ruthless kicking display.

Out-half Gareth Steenson and Howe crossed in the first half to see ‘Gannon lead 14-6 at the break. Wallace kicked two early penalties for Ballymena.

Howe sandwiched another score in between tries from Ballymena centre Peter Budina and winger Scott Young, but it was not enough as Wallace added three further penalties.

The result means Ballymena leapfrog Dungannon into tenth in the final Division One table.

Scorers: Ballymena: Tries: Peter Budina, Scott Young; Cons: Paddy Wallace 2; Pens: Wallace 5

Dungannon: Tries: Tyrone Howe 2, Gareth Steenson; Cons: Steenson 3
