UCD up to sixth with home win

UCD fly half Eoghan Hickey kicked three crucial penalties as the students got the better of Buccaneers at Belfield.

The sides shared out two tries apiece but Hickey edged his kicking duel with Buccs duo Tom Cregan and Paul Warwick, who kicked a penalty apiece.

Leinster hooker David Blaney touched down from a lineout maul in the opening half, but a Ted Robinson try helped Buccs go in level at 13-all at the break.

A flowing backline move put winger Michael Fanning in for UCD's second try, and although Buccs cancelled that out, Warwick missed an injury-time penalty to win it.

The win sees UCD into sixth, six points behind Belfast Harlequins, the side above them. Buccs' fourth defeat in five games has them struggling in eleventh.
