Win brings Con level with table toppers Shannon
Lansdowne 23 Cork Constitution 33
Fly-half Darragh Lyons bagged a 13-point haul as Cork Constitution moved level on 22 points with leaders Shannon and Garryowen at the top of AIB League Division One.
Third-placed Con had little difficulty in seeing off a below-par Lansdowne side, beating them 33-23, having been 33-9 in front midway through the second half.
Lyons got them motoring with an unconverted try. His opposite number Corey Burt, who scored 18 points in all, landed two penalties in reply, but tries from winger Richie Lane and centre Diarmuid O’Riordan, the second coming three minutes into first half injury-time, handed Con a 19-9 half-time lead.
Three minutes into the second half, left winger Cronin Healy blazed over for Con’s fourth try. Lyons converted and added the extras to lock Shane O’Connor’s close-in effort on the hour mark for 33-9.
Predictably, Lansdowne came back with converted tries from Burt and flanker David Lavin, but Con were still out of sight.
