Wales have not closed the door on wing Kevin Morgan and flanker Dafydd Jones being fit for next Saturday’s Millennium Stadium clash against South Africa.

Prop Chris Horsman could also be in the picture, although coach Mike Ruddock has delayed his planned team announcement by 24 hours until tomorrow.

All three players limped off because of ankle injuries sustained during Wales’ unconvincing 11-10 victory over Fiji last Friday.

Lock Brent Cockbain suffered a serious hamstring injury in the same match and has undergone surgery. He is unlikely to play again this season.

Ruddock drafted five players in to train with the squad as a result of those fitness setbacks – Dafydd James, Andy Williams, Ben Broster, Ian Evans and Andy Powell – as Wales try to salvage their demanding autumn series in remaining fixtures against the Springboks and Australia.

“Chris’ injury has settled down early, and he has been able to resume training, which is a positive sign in terms of him playing at the weekend,” said Wales team physiotherapist Mark Davies.
