Blackrock and Dublin University share spoils

Dublin University full-back Simon Mitchell kicked 14 points but the students still failed to pick off their second win of the season, drawing 19-all at Blackrock.

The share of the spoils means a third draw of the season for Tony Smeeth's side, who continue to sit in relegation trouble in eleventh.

Mitchell helped them into a 10-9 half-time lead, converting Philip Howard's try and adding a penalty of his own.

He dropped a second half goal and kicked a further two placed balls, and they were needed as DU leaked tries to 'Rock's Phil Clare and former Ireland Under-21 skipper Dave Gannon.

Mitchell had a 40-metre chance to win it at the death, following two yellow cards to DU's Martin Garvey and Forest Gainer, but was wayward.
