Wallace inspires Ballymena victory

Ulster utility back Paddy Wallace single-handedly ended Belfast Harlequins' six-game winning run in the AIB League Division One, as his first-half penalty brace edged a titanic Eaton Park battle 6-5.

Third-placed 'Quins were without five Ireland Under-21 players and it proved crucial as Wallace kicked the Braidmen into a 6-0 half-time lead.

Ian Humphreys' solo try on the hour should have pushed the visitors to victory, but Ballymena's forward unit were superb in defence and watched gleefully as 23-year-old out-half Humphreys pushed an injury time drop goal winner to the right of the posts.
