Dungannon end barren run

Dungannon 13 Lansdowne 11

Dungannon chalked up their first win since the start of the AIB League season as centre Paul Magee scored their only try in a 13-11 defeat of Lansdowne at Stevenson Park.

Coach Jeremy Davidson dubbed it "a must-win game", and so it proved as their two-point success takes them momentarily out of the relegation mire and up to eighth.

Returning Ireland Under 21 fly-half Gareth Steenson kicked them into a 3-0 lead before Lansdowne hooker Kevin Corrigan ended a close-range forward drive on 15 minutes with his second try in two games.

Steenson and opposite number Andy Tallon traded penalties just after the half hour to leave Andy Doyle's visitors 8-6 in front at half time.

Lansdowne's recent addition Christian Kos was binned with little over 30 minutes remaining for repeat infringing, and Magee's 55th minute effort in the right corner saw 'Gannon victorious.

Tallon's second penalty earned a late bonus point.

Scorers:

Dungannon: Try: Paul Magee; Con: Gareth Steenson; Pens: Steenson 2

Lansdowne: Try: Kevin Corrigan; Pens: Andy Tallon 2
