RFU crack down on black market tickets

Officials in England will stop issuing international tickets to a number of clubs this season after finding evidence of trading on the black market.

The Rugby Football Union revealed tickets allocated to some member clubs and individuals have been sold on illegally.

RFU commercial director Paul Vaughan said: “We made it very clear earlier this year that we would take action against those parties who contravened the terms and conditions under which the match tickets were sold.

A total of 15 member rugby clubs, one school and five individuals have been informed of the reduction and their right of appeal to our disciplinary officer Jeff Blackett.”

The RFU have written to the relevant parties informing them that their international match ticket allocation is being withdrawn for season 2004/05.
