Gatland tips Bath for glory
Wasps boss Warren Gatland today backed title rivals Bath to finish top of the Zurich Premiership.
But Gatland warned that his Heineken Cup finalists are waiting to pounce on any Bath slip-up during the so-called ‘Super Saturday’.
Bath will secure a place in the May 29 title play-off final at Twickenham if they beat Recreation Ground visitors Gloucester tomorrow.
Reigning Premiership champions Wasps, though, will knock them off their perch should Bath lose and Gatland’s men defeat resurgent Leicester.
It is just one of several fascinating scenarios which could unfold on the regular league season’s final weekend before title and wildcard play-off games take centre stage.
“We would like to finish first in the league, which would mean a slight rest for us before the Heineken Cup final against Toulouse on May 23,” said Wasps rugby director Gatland.
