Scrum-half Ross Blake will leave Bath at the end of this season to join neighbouring Bristol Shoguns.

Blake, a former Scotland Under-21 international, has seen his Recreation Ground opportunities restricted this term behind Martyn Wood and Hentie Martens, making just nine appearances, including six off the bench.

“Ross has been a good servant to Bath over the past couple of seasons, but he has ambitions and has reached the stage in his career where he needs to be playing regular first team rugby,” said Bath rugby director Jack Rowell.

“We have mutually agreed that it is in Ross’ best interest to join Bristol, the club where he began his career, in order to challenge for a regular first-team position.”
