The Irish schools completed the second leg of what would be a second successive Triple Crown by holding out for a 12-08 win over the English schools in Newcastle this evening.

Crescent College's Barry O'Mahony got over for the first of Ireland's two tries and full back Robert Kearney converted for a 7-0 lead at the break.

Hooker Sean Cronin from Ard Scoil Ris secured their second try for the Irish who, lead by Duncan Williams, Darren Cave and Diarmuid Laffan, held on in the face of a late English onslaught.
