Castrogiovanni: Azzuri out for revenge

Italy are out to avenge their World Cup defeat when they travel to Cardiff for their final match of the 2004 RBS 6 Nations Championship against Wales tomorrow.

The Azzurri went down 27-15 to the Welsh in Canberra Stadium during the pool stages of last year’s tournament in Australia.

And now Italy will be looking to restore some pride when the two sides meet again at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow.

Prop Leandro Castrogiovanni told PA International: “This is the game we really want to win, we have not forgotten the defeat in the World Cup.

“I think the Welsh are playing very, very well, especially in the last game where they lost against the world champions (England) in the last few minutes.”

Castrogiovanni also claims Italy will not be intimidated by the passionate atmosphere of the Millennium Stadium.

“We are not scared of the 75,000 people at the Millennium Stadium.

“We will go there and play our game like always. We will go to win and nothing else.

“We respect them a lot, but I think our team is also in good form.

“This is the final game and it would be nice to claim our first ever away win in the RBS 6 Nations.”
