Mark Taylor will make his first Wales appearance since the World Cup tomorrow and he declared: “I just hope to go out and prove a point”.

The Llanelli and Lions centre, despite boasting 44 caps, was overlooked for Wales’ opening two RBS 6 Nations games against Scotland and Ireland.

But a season-ending injury sustained by Sonny Parker has opened the door for Taylor’s recall – and he does not intend wasting his chance.

“Every time you put on the red jersey, you have to prove a point. And I just hope to go out and prove a point on Sunday,” he said.

Taylor’s reappearance in the Welsh midfield against Millennium Stadium visitors France will put on hold any retirement plans.

The 31-year-old had been subjected to speculation that he might quit Test rugby following the Six Nations campaign.
