Paterson named Scots skipper

Edinburgh stand-off Chris Paterson was today named as the first Scotland captain of the Matt Williams era when he got the nod ahead of Gordon Bulloch for the RBS 6 Nations opener against Wales.

Paterson, with 40 caps and 210 international points, was preferred to Glasgow hooker Bulloch, who was widely tipped for the job but had to settle for the vice-captaincy against the Welsh for Williams’ first game in charge.
