Garryowen take vital win
Lansdowne 13 Garryowen 21
Eleventh-placed Garryowen helped their AIB League campaign no end with a 21-13 victory over hosts Lansdowne on the back pitch this afternoon, scoring two tries on their way to just their second win in 7 outings.
The home side offered little in the first-half, scoring just once through the boot of Shane Whelan with a right-sided penalty. The Limerick side held an evident advantage in the forwards and Conor Hartigan was allowed too much space crashing over for a converted try before the break. Alan Purcell popped over those extra points and hit a 30-metre penalty to hand the visitors a 10-3 lead at the break.
The second half saw further domination from the light blues with Peter Malone getting on the scoresheet with his first try of the campaign and Purcell adding a conversion, a second penalty and a drop goal for the full set and an individual tally of 11 points.
