UCD 5 Dungannon 10

Fresh off the heels of their first win of the season last weekend, Dungannon put together a controlled display to defeat UCD 10-5 at Belfield.

Jeremy Davidson’s side are finally getting their game together after four weekends in the lower echelons of Division One.

A try from back row Joel McKenty, converted by full back John McGuckin helped them to a 7-0 lead at the break.

UCD centre Ken Kennedy and out-half Niall McNamara were boosted by scholarship announcements for the 2004 season earlier this week, but were quite poor with Dungannon’s pack marshalling the proceedings.

Full back Philip Bredin did manage to get in for second-half try for the home side but McNamara failed with the conversion.

A penalty from McGuckin stretched the Tyrone men’s lead further, with UCD hanging on for a bonus point.

Dungannon reside in 10th spot with today’s win taking them up two positions.
