New Zealand get the upper hand
New Zealand 35 France 13
New Zealand are set to finish their World Cup campaign on a positive note as they are beating France easily in today's third/fourth place play-off.
Having trailed 14-6 at the break, France hauled themselves back into the game early in the second half as Pepito Elhorga went over and Dimitri Yachvili converted to leave them just one point off the pace.
But their hopes were dashed in the space of four minutes. Tries from Joe Rokocoko and Brad Thorn on 50 and 53 minutes were both converted by Carter to give France a 28-13 lead.
When Malili Muliaina touched down after 58 minutes the game was as good as over.
