Mike Catt was taken to hospital in Brisbane this morning after suffering an injury scare during England’s World Cup training.

An England spokesman later said that Catt had been given the all-clear following his hospital visit and would be available for selection for the Wales game.

There was though, still no information on what his injury scare had been.

Bath back Catt was able to walk off the training pitch at Brisbane Grammar School, and underwent a precautionary X-ray in hospital.

Catt won his 58th cap during England’s World Cup record victory against Uruguay in Brisbane last weekend.

He produced an outstanding two-try display, and was ready to mount a serious challenge for a place in England’s 22 against quarter-final opponents Wales on Sunday.

The 32-year-old emerged on the rails to clinch a World Cup squad berth. He spent most of last season battling injury problems.

He has played in four different positions for England – centre, fly-half, wing and full-back.

England head coach Clive Woodward is due to announce his starting line-up for the Wales clash later this morning.
