The Scottish Rugby Union confirmed today they would investigate allegations of racism made by Heriot’s FP coach Phil Smith.

He accused a Stirling County player of making jibes against Fijian lock Apolosi Satala during the BT Premiership Division One match between the two sides at Goldenacre yesterday.

Satala was sent-off for punching in the 23rd minute of the match by Boroughmuir.

An SRU statement read: “As with any sending-off, the referee submits a report to the discipline panel secretary at Murrayfield and the dismissed player can request a hearing.

“The SRU is likely to investigate the allegation. In the meantime we would re-iterate that Scottish Rugby is an all-inclusive sport and that there is no place for racism in the game.
