Flatley dropped for England test
Elton Flatley has been dropped from the Australia team for Saturday’s Test against England for disciplinary reasons, leaving the Wallabies without their top two choices for flyhalf.
The 26-year-old Flatley failed to turn up for a compulsory training session in Parramatta today.
“The Wallabies have a strict disciplinary code and failure to comply with that code can lead to the type of action we have taken with Elton,” said Australia coach Eddie Jones. We will review Elton’s situation after the England Test.”
Flatley wore the number 10 jersey in place of the injured Stephen Larkham as the world champions opened their season with wins over Ireland (45-16) and Wales (30-10).
He was expected to continue to deputise for Larkham, who has an elbow injury and is not expected to be fit until the Tri-Nations series against South Africa and New Zealand next month.
Australia play host to Clive Woodward’s England, who recorded a historic 15-13 win over New Zealand yesterday, at Melbourne’s Docklands stadium next Saturday.
