Danny Grewcock is out of the England squad for next month’s Test matches against New Zealand and Australia.

The Bath captain will begin a two week suspension next Sunday after being sent off for punching Wasps skipper Lawrence Dallaglio in last weekend’s Parker Pen Challenge Cup final.

Grewcock’s club addressed the prospect of an appeal, but could receive no guarantee from European Rugby Cup that a hearing could be convened before next Monday – England’s departure date.

Grewcock’s place in the squad has been taken by Leeds lock Tom Palmer. Harlequins forward Alex Codling replaces Palmer in the England party heading to Canada for Churchill Cup action.
