Dan considers French move
Dan Luger could be playing his club rugby in France next season with Heineken Cup semi-finalists Perpignan.
Harlequins and England wing Luger, scorer of 21 tries in 32 Tests, has confirmed that Perpignan are among the clubs he has had contact with.
“There has been a lot of talk in the press the last few days about where I am going to be playing next season, and Perpignan has been mentioned by several parties,” said Luger, on his personal website.
“All I want to say about the matter now is that I have been in contact with Perpignan and some other clubs for discussions, but for now, my mind is firmly focussed on Quins and playing well for them for the rest of the season.”
Luger, 28, joined Quins from Saracens last season, but missed much of the current campaign due to a serious knee injury.
He regained full fitness after Christmas though and featured in all of England’s RBS 6 Nations games, starting against France, Wales and Italy, then going on as a substitute during the victories over Scotland and Ireland.
Perpignan, who face Leinster next Sunday for a place in this season’s Heineken Cup final, have drawn up plans to significantly strengthen their squad.
Luger apart, Australian centre Daniel Herbert and New Zealand back-row forward Scott Robertson are also believed to be major post-World Cup targets.
