Bridgend chief executive Adrian Hadley has become the first major casualty of the restructuring of Welsh rugby.

The former Cardiff, Wales and British Lions star has been axed by the Brewery Field club in the wake of the formation of five regions in Wales.

Bridgend are to be linked with Pontypridd, whose supremo Cenydd Thomas will head up the administrative side of the region.

Hadley, who joined Bridgend in December 2001, has been given six months notice.

He said: “Obviously one is disappointed at losing one’s job but I am not in any way bitter. It was inevitable there would be some casualties with the new set-up.”
