UL/Bohs unlucky to go down to Clontarf
UL/Bohemians 18, Clontarf 19 (result)
Ian Costello missed a penalty with the last kick of the match which would have given UL/Bohemians a shock win over table toppers Clontarf at the end of an exciting AIL Division 1 league game at Thomond Park.
UL/Bohs put up one of their best displays of the season and fully deserved to lead by 8-0 at half-time thanks to a try by Karl Gilligan and a penalty by Ian Costello.
However, Clontarf struck a purple patch on the restart and had tries by Niall O'Brien and Darragh O'Shea, one of which was converted by Conor Mahony.
However Bohs came again with a try by Colman Finn which Costello converted only for Clontarf to strike for O'Brien's second try which Mahony converted.
Costello narrowed the gap to a single point with a UL/Bohs penalty but was unable to win them the game at the death.
