Dungannon seal dramatic win
Dungannon 15 Garryowen 13
Mark Bradley struck an injury-time penalty to give Dungannon a last-gasp win at Stevenson Park.
Coach Andy Earl looked certain to crash to victory at the hands of his old club, but a dramatic victory hauled the Tyrone men out of the danger zone.
And with a strong contingent of contracted players due to return following Ulster's Heineken Cup exit, the future suddenly looks infinitely brighter for Dungannon.
The Limerick side dominated the first half and should have had a greater lead than the 13-0 advantage they carried into the interval.
Two Alan O'Sullivan penalties and a converted try by hooker Pat Humphries midway through the half helped Garryowen settle to the task.
But with wind advantage, Dungannon made the perfect start to the second half, Andrew Hughes getting the touchdown at the end of a powerful surge by the pack.
They failed to build on that advantage, however, and with just five minutes to play, still trailed by eight points.
But when Jan Cunningham kicked ahead to score a wonderful try, converted by Bradley, a sensational finish looked possible.
And the Dungannon fullback made no mistake when entrusted with the late kick which sealed the win.
