Con score second successive defeat
Cork Con 17, Lansdowne 27 (full-time)
Lansdowne scored their first AIB League victory at Temple Hill today by overcoming a lacklustre Cork Con side.
The home team had taken a 11-0 lead with a 12th minute try from Frenchman John Vincent Igarza and two penalties from Pat McCarthy before man of the match Matt Leek put points on the board for Lansdowne in first-half injury time to leave the interval score 11-3.
Lansdowne were much the sharper after the restart, however, and struck back in the 42nd minute with a try by left wing Karl Becker.
Leek and McCarthy hit a penalty apiece before the Lansdowne man nipped in for a try which he converted himself to hand the visitors an 18-14 lead.
Leek added another penalty with McCarthy responding in kind but the Dubliners never looked in trouble and Leek added a drop goal and a penalty to close out the match and hand Con a second successive defeat.
