Captain Keith Wood has withdrawn from the Irish team to play Georgia in a World Cup qualifier at Lansdowne Road on Saturday due to a neck injury.

The influential hooker will be replaced by Shane Byrne, with Frank Sheahan filling the subsequent vacancy in the replacements.

Anthony Foley will take over the captaincy for the game.
