The former Irish schools captain retired with a leg injury during Connacht’s 40-33 win over Munster on Friday.

Connacht coach Steph Nel has drafted in the experienced Mark McHugh at full-back with Shane Moore called up to the bench for the opening game of the Celtic League.

Connacht: Mark McHugh; Ted Robinson, Darren Yapp, Tim Allnutt, Wayne Munn; Eric Elwood, Eoin Reddan; Ronan McCormack, Marnus Uijs, Peter Bracken; Warwick Waugh, Rowan Frost, Michael Swift, Johnny O'Connor, Eric Peters.

Replacements: Dan McFarland, Henry Bourke, Colm Rigney, John O’Sullivan, Chris Keane, Shane Moore, Dermot O’Sullivan.
