Rugby: Voc seeks home in England

Former South Africa captain Andre Vos has left South Africa in search of a new home in England after retiring from international rugby last week.

Vos left for London to negotiate a deal with one of three Zurich Premiership clubs for the remainder of his career and he could be playing in England before the end of the current season.

The former Bok captain, who was dropped by Harry Viljoen when he was still Springbok coach last year, retired two weeks ago from international rugby, saying his body could not take the rigours of the international game any more.

His decision was seen with regret by most top administrators, and Vos was even called by the minister of sport Ncgonde Balfour, who also tried to get him to reconsider.

Vos is currently suffering from a shoulder injury and was expected to join the Cats when he recovers in three weeks time.

Vos said: ‘‘I have had offers from three clubs, and I am going up there (to England) to see for myself how good the offers are.’’
