Rugby: Ford to become new Irish defensive coach
Former rugby league star and current Oldham coach, Mike Ford, looks set to become the latest addition to the Irish Rugby Union team’s coaching staff.
The former Great Britain scrum-half has confirmed he is considering an official approach from the IRFU to link up with Eddie O’Sullivan and Declan Kidney as the new defensive coach.
The news comes only days after Niall O’Donovan was recruited from Munster as the new forwards coach.
Ford may be installed in time for Ireland’s first Six Nations game with Wales on February 3 next.
