Rugby: Cork Con defeat Galwegians
Cork Con 16, Galwegians 10 (full-time)
Cork Con scored a decisive win in the AIL Division One at Temple Hill this afternoon.
Con were straight into the attack and were awarded a penalty in the first minute which Conor O’Mahony duly converted.
Galwegians fought back in the 14th minute with a superb solo try from Gavin Duffy which was duly converted by Eric Elwood.
Two Conor O’Mahony penalties saw Cork Con edge ahead 9-7.
In a scrappy first-half Con finished with a flourish with a Ronan O’Donovan try which was converted by O’Mahony.
Scores were scarcer in the second half and it was not until the 68th minute that Galwegians reduced the Con lead from a Duffy penalty.
There was no more scores in the game as Cork Con held out for the win.
