Rugby: Romania coach quits

Mircea Paraschiv has quit as head coach of the Romania national team in the wake of his side's world-record 134-0 loss to England.

Dumitru Mihalache, the president of the Rugby Union Federation (FRR), has also announced he will not be standing for re-election.

Paraschiv had been in charge of Romania for seven years but decided to call it a day after a dismal run of results.

His side have conceded a total of 283 points in consecutive losses to Georgia, Ireland, Wales and England.

"I have decided to resign as Romania's coach," Paraschiv, 47, said.

"I see no new challenges in going on as the national team's coach any more."

Paraschiv's final game in charge was on Saturday where his side was humbled by a rampant England team.

England scored 20 tries in what was the biggest margin of victory ever seen in an international match.

The FRR have scheduled a meeting this week to analyse the England match.
