Rugby: Compromise reached in Bulls row

The Rugby League say a compromise has been reached over the club-versus-country dispute involving Super League leaders Bradford Bulls.

The Rugby League say a compromise has been reached over the club-versus-country dispute involving Super League leaders Bradford Bulls.

The Bulls appeared to be set for conflict with the game’s governing body when they announced they would be fielding a full-strength team against the touring Australians on October 28.

They had been expected to release players that weekend for Great Britain’s Test against France on October 26, a match arranged as part of the build-up to the Ashes Series.

In a statement, the League say: ‘‘An agreement has been reached between the RFL and Bradford Bulls that will enable Great Britain head coach David Waite to achieve his objective in preparing the Great Britain squad for the Test against France as well as Bradford to field a very competitive strong side against Australia.

‘‘There is no conflict between club and country.’’

Bradford have seven players in the 34-strong Great Britain squad.
